Chapter At-Takaathur (102) سورۃ التکاثر [102] الْقَارِعَةُ ﴿١﴾ مَا الْقَارِعَةُ ﴿٢﴾ وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا الْقَارِعَةُ ﴿٣﴾ يَوْمَ يَكُونُ النَّاسُ كَالْفَرَاشِ الْمَبْثُوثِ ﴿٤﴾ وَتَكُونُ الْجِبَالُ كَالْعِهْنِ الْمَنفُوشِ ﴿٥﴾ فَأَمَّا مَن ثَقُلَتْ مَوَازِينُهُ ﴿٦﴾ فَهُوَ فِي عِيشَةٍ رَّاضِيَةٍ ﴿٧﴾ وَأَمَّا مَنْ خَفَّتْ مَوَازِينُهُ ﴿٨﴾ فَأُمُّهُ هَاوِيَةٌ ﴿٩﴾ وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا هِيَهْ ﴿١٠﴾ نَارٌ حَامِيَةٌ ﴿١١﴾ Transliteration: “Al-Qaar’iah; Maa Al-Qaar’iah? Wa maa adraaka maa Al-Qaariah? Youma yakoonu an-Naasu kal-faraash-il-mab’ooth. Wa takoon-ul-Jibaalu kal-‘ihnil manfoosh. Fa ammaa man thaqulat mawazeena-hu, fa huwa fi ‘eeshati raadhia. Wa amma man khiffat mawazeena-hu, fa ummu-hu haawiah. Wa maa adraaka maa hiyah? Naarun haamiah.” A Specimen of Traditional Translations: “OH, the sudden calamity! How awesome the sudden calamity! And what could make thee conceive what that sudden calamity will be? [It will occur] on the Day when men will be like moths swarming in confusion, and the mountains will be like fluffy tufts of wool.... And then, he whose weight [of good deeds] is heavy in the balance shall find himself in a happy' state of life; whereas he whose weight is light in the balance shall be engulfed by an abyss. And what could make thee conceive what that [abyss] will be? A fire hotly burning!” (Asad) The latest Academic and Rational Translation: 101:1-11 “Remember the calamity which is destined to strike all of a sudden! What kind of calamity would that be? What do you know about the nature of that calamity? It is the unfolding of that promised stage of time (youma – یوم), when the common folks will look like flocks of scattered moths, and the firmly established powerful elitist classes (al-Jibaal – الجبال) will turn into worthless dried and fluffed wool. And then for those whose weight in the scale of accountability is heavy, they will be in a state of blissful life; And as for those whose weight in the scale stands diminished, their station will be the abyss of oblivion. And what do you know what that abyss is? A blazing fire of remorse, lamentation and repentance!” [Aurangzaib Yousufzai] Qaf-Ra-Ayn = to knock, strike, beat, hit the butt, gnash (the teeth), strike with severity. qari'atun - great calamity that destroys a nation, adversity that comes suddenly, a name of the day of resurrection, great abuse. Faraash: f r sh : Fa-Ra-Shiin = to spread out, extend, stretch forth, furnish. furshan - to low (carry burden), be thrown down (for slaughter) of small animals of which flesh is used for food. farashun (gen. n.) moths. firashun (plu. furushun) - carpet, thing that is spread out to lie upon, bed. Wife/spouse (metaphorically). Mabthooth: b th th: = Ba-Tha-Tha = spread/dispersed/scattered, published/revealed. ‘aihn: ع ہ ن; Ayn-ha-Nun = to whither, dry up, be broken or bent. ihn (pl. uhun) - wool, dyed wool, multicoloured wool. Manfoosh: n f sh: Nun-Fa-Shiin = to card the pie or wool, scatter or pull into pieces (cotton or wool), flatter, pasture, stray for food by night, pasture during the night without shepherd (cattle). اردو متن یہاں سے شروع: سورۃ التکاثر [102] روایتی تراجم میں کی گئی "ہرگز نہیں" [کلّا] کی مبہم تکرار کو کس طرح قرآن کے ادبی اسلوب پر مبنی ایک خوبصورت اور مربوط بیانیے کی شکل میں ڈھال دیا گیا ہے، یہ آپ اس جدید ترین ترجمے میں ملاحظہ کر سکتے ہیں۔ أَلْهَاكُمُ التَّكَاثُرُ ﴿١﴾ حَتَّىٰ زُرْتُمُ الْمَقَابِرَ ﴿٢﴾ كَلَّا سَوْفَ تَعْلَمُونَ﴿٣﴾ ثُمَّ كَلَّا سَوْفَ تَعْلَمُونَ ﴿٤﴾ كَلَّا لَوْ تَعْلَمُونَ عِلْمَ الْيَقِينِ﴿٥﴾ لَتَرَوُنَّ الْجَحِيمَ ﴿٦﴾ ثُمَّ لَتَرَوُنَّهَا عَيْنَ الْيَقِينِ ﴿٧﴾ ثُمَّ لَتُسْأَلُنَّ يَوْمَئِذٍ عَنِ النَّعِيمِ ﴿٨﴾ روایتی ترجمے کا ایک نمونہ "تم لوگوں کو زیادہ سے زیادہ اور ایک دوسرے سے بڑھ کر دنیا حاصل کرنے کی دھن نے غفلت میں ڈال رکھا ہے۔ یہاں تک کہ (اسی فکر میں) تم لب گور تک پہنچ جاتے ہو۔ ہرگز نہیں، عنقریب تم کو معلوم ہو جائے گا۔ پھر (سن لو کہ) ہرگز نہیں، عنقریب تم کو معلوم ہو جائے گا۔ ہرگز نہیں، اگر تم یقینی علم کی حیثیت سے (اِس روش کے انجام کو) جانتے ہوتے (تو تمہارا یہ طرز عمل نہ ہوتا] ۔ تم دوزخ دیکھ کر رہو گے ۔ پھر (سن لو کہ) تم بالکل یقین کے ساتھ اُسے دیکھ لو گے۔ پھر ضرور اُس روز تم سے اِن نعمتوں کے بارے میں جواب طلبی کی جائے گی۔ جدید ترین علمی و عقلی ترجمہ دولت کے ارتکاز کا مقابلہ [التکاثر] تمہیں درست راہ سے بھٹکا دیتا ہے یہاں تک کہ تم اپنے انجام [المقابر] کو پہنچ جاتے ہو۔ تم یقینا یہ جان لوگے کہ ایسا ہرگز نہیں [ کلّا] ہونا چاہیئے۔ اس پر دوبارہ تاکید کی جاتی ہے کہ تم جلد ہی جان لوگے کہ یہ قطعی درست راستہ نہیں ہے۔ ایسا نہیں ہوتا اگر تم نے اللہ پر یقین کا سبق سیکھ لیا ہوتا کیونکہ اس طرح تم نے آنے والی تباہی [ الجحیم] کو دیکھ لیا ہوتا۔ کیونکہ اس کے بعد [ثمّ] تم نے اپنی روش کا یقین کی آنکھ سے جائزہ بھی لے لیا ہوتا۔ انجامِ کار اُس خاص وعید کردہ دن یا مرحلے میں [یومئذ] تم سے جمع کی گئی اُن دولتوں پر [النعیم] باز پرس ضرور کی جانی ہے [لتسالُنّ]۔ [اورنگزیب یوسفزئی]
