Chapter Al-Dhuhaa (93)

Most Rational & Strictly Academic Re-translation۔

(Urdu version follows the English one)

PREAMBLE

In the course of the ongoing purification process of the Quran’s fictitious inherited translation, one 1 more Chapter is phereunder with their most academic and rational RE-TRANSLATIONS. This re-translation effort gives full cognizance to the Quran’s classical literary Arabic style of prose and tries a legal word to word English conversion in an exactly identical style, as against the most substandard and commonplace stuff inherited from an unenviable past and available all around us.

Chapter Al-Dhuhaa (93)

وَالضُّحَىٰ ﴿١﴾ وَاللَّيْلِ إِذَا سَجَىٰ ﴿٢﴾ مَا وَدَّعَكَ رَبُّكَ وَمَا قَلَىٰ﴿٣﴾ وَلَلْآخِرَةُ خَيْرٌ لَّكَ مِنَ الْأُولَىٰ ﴿٤﴾ وَلَسَوْفَ يُعْطِيكَ رَبُّكَ فَتَرْضَىٰ ﴿٥﴾ أَلَمْ يَجِدْكَ يَتِيمًا فَآوَىٰ ﴿٦﴾ وَوَجَدَكَ ضَالًّا فَهَدَىٰ﴿٧﴾ وَوَجَدَكَ عَائِلًا فَأَغْنَىٰ ﴿٨﴾ فَأَمَّا الْيَتِيمَ فَلَا تَقْهَرْ ﴿٩﴾ وَأَمَّا السَّائِلَ فَلَا تَنْهَرْ ﴿١٠﴾ وَأَمَّا بِنِعْمَةِ رَبِّكَ فَحَدِّثْ ﴿١١﴾

 

Transliteration: “Wadh-dhuhaa; wal layili iza sajaa; maa wadda’aka Rabbu-ka wa maa qalaa; wa lal-aakhiratu khayiran laka min al-oolaa. Wa la-saufa yu’teeka Rabbu-ka fa-tardhaa; a’lum yajidu-ka yateeman fa-aawaa; wa wajada-ka dhaallan fa-hadaa; wa wajada-ka ‘aailan fa-aghnaa; fa amma al-yateema fa-laa taqhar; wa ammaa as-saaila fa-laa tanhar; wa amma bi-ni’mati Rabbu-ka fa-haddath.”

Old Traditionist Translation:

 “CONSIDER the bright morning hours, and the night when it grows still and dark. Thy Sustainer has not forsaken thee, nor does He scorn thee: for, indeed, the life to come will be better for thee than this earlier part [of thy life]! And, indeed, in time will thy Sustainer grant thee [what thy heart desires], and thou shalt be well-pleased. Has He not found thee an orphan, and given thee shelter? And found thee lost on thy way, and guided thee? And found thee in want, and given thee sufficiency? Therefore, the orphan shalt thou never wrong, and him that seeks [thy] help shalt thou never chide, and of thy Sustainer's blessings shalt thou [ever] speak.”

The latest Academic & Rational Translation:

93:1-11 “The enlightenment of the Revelation (wa adh'dhuhaa – و الضحیٰ) and the darkness (wal- layil – واللیل) as it had spread over and covered it, are witness to the fact that your Sustainer has neither left you alone (maa wadda’aka – ما ودّعک), nor forsaken (maa qalaa – ما قلیٰ) you. And the second phase of life (lal-aakhiratu – للآخرۃ) for you is certainly going to be more rewarding than the first one, because your Sustainer would endow you with so much of His Grace that you will attain utmost pleasure and satisfaction. Had He not seen you an orphan and provided you with shelter? And found you in a lost state, so guided you to the right course; and saw you in want, so turned you rich and self-sufficient. Therefore, with the orphans, never be harsh; and when one asks for something, never repulse him; and as for the blessings of your Sustainer upon you, it is befitting for you to make them known in your common discourse.”

Vocabulary:

Dad-Ha-Ya = to be smitten by sunbeams, suffer from the heat of the sun, become uncovered, be revealed, appear conspicuously. Can also means those hours of the morning which follow shortly after sunrise, full brightness of the sun, sunshine, part of the forenoon when the sun is already high, bright part pf the day when the sun shines fully, early afternoon, high noon, daytime/daylight.

Siin-Jiim-Ya = to be calm/quiet/still, be covered or spread out with darkness.

Waw-Dal-Ayn = to leave/depart/forsake/overlook/disregard, place/deposit.

Qaf-Lam-Ya =to hate, detest, abhor, dislike, forsake.

اردو متن یہاں سے شروع ہوتا ہے

قرآنِ حکیم کے من گھڑت موروثی تراجم کو ملاوٹ سے پاک شفافیت کا حامل بنانے کی کوششوں کے ضمن میں ذیل میں ایک مزید سورت اپنے تازہ ترین، انتہائی علمی اور شعوری ترجمہ کے ساتھ پیش کی جارہی ہیں۔ یہ تازہ ترجمہ قرآن کے کلاسیکل درجے کے ادبی نثری اسلوب کا پورا لحاظ رکھتے ہوئے کوشش کرتے ہیں کہ اُسی کے متماثل اسلوب مِیں ، بزبانِ اُردو،ایک انتہائی قانونی، لفظ بہ لفظ تحویل پیش کی جائے جو ایک ناقابلِ رشک ماضی سے وراثت میں ملے ہوئےاُن غیر معیاری اور عامیانہ تراجم کے بالکل برعکس ہو جو ہمارے چاروں طرف بالعموم دستیاب ہیں۔

سورۃ الضحٰی [93]

وَالضُّحَىٰ ﴿١﴾ وَاللَّيْلِ إِذَا سَجَىٰ ﴿٢﴾ مَا وَدَّعَكَ رَبُّكَ وَمَا قَلَىٰ﴿٣﴾ وَلَلْآخِرَةُ خَيْرٌ لَّكَ مِنَ الْأُولَىٰ ﴿٤﴾ وَلَسَوْفَ يُعْطِيكَ رَبُّكَ فَتَرْضَىٰ ﴿٥﴾ أَلَمْ يَجِدْكَ يَتِيمًا فَآوَىٰ ﴿٦﴾ وَوَجَدَكَ ضَالًّا فَهَدَىٰ﴿٧﴾ وَوَجَدَكَ عَائِلًا فَأَغْنَىٰ ﴿٨﴾ فَأَمَّا الْيَتِيمَ فَلَا تَقْهَرْ ﴿٩﴾ وَأَمَّا السَّائِلَ فَلَا تَنْهَرْ ﴿١٠﴾ وَأَمَّا بِنِعْمَةِ رَبِّكَ فَحَدِّثْ ﴿١١﴾

مروجہ روایتی ترجمہ:

"قسم ہے روز روشن کی اور رات کی جبکہ وہ سکون کے ساتھ طاری ہو جائے [اے نبیؐ) تمہارے رب نے تم کو ہرگز نہیں چھوڑا اور نہ وہ ناراض ہوا اور یقیناً تمہارے لیے بعد کا دور پہلے دور سے بہتر ہے اور عنقریب تمہارا رب تم کو اتنا دے گا کہ تم خوش ہو جاؤ گے کیا اس نے تم کو یتیم نہیں پایا اور پھر ٹھکانا فراہم کیا؟ اور تمہیں ناواقف راہ پایا اور پھر ہدایت بخشی اور تمہیں نادار پایا اور پھر مالدار کر دیا لہٰذا یتیم پر سختی نہ کرو اور سائل کو نہ جھڑکو اور اپنے رب کی نعمت کا اظہار کرو"

"وحیِ الٰہی کی روشنی [و الضحیٰ] اور وہ تاریکیاں [واللیل] جب انہوں اس روشنی کو ڈھانک دیا تھا، اس حقیقت پر شاہد ہیں کہ آپ کے پروردگار نے نہ ہی آپ کو تنہا چھوڑا ہے [ما ودّعک] اور نہ ہی فراموش کر دیا ہے۔ اور یقینا آپ کی زندگی کا اگلا دور[للآخرۃ] اس پہلے دور سے بدرجہا بہتر ہوگا، کیونکہ آپ کا پروردگار آپ کو وہ کچھ عطا کردے گا کہ آپ خوشیوں اور سکون و اطمینان سے بہرہ ور ہوجائیں گے۔ یاد کریں کہ اُس نے آپ کو ایک یتیم کی حیثیت میں دیکھا توکیا اپنی سرپرستی سے سرفراز نہ فرمایا؟ پھر آپ کو گم گشتہِ راہ پایا تو کیا راہنمائی عطا نہ کی؟ پھر آپ کو احتیاج میں دیکھا تو کیا آپ کو صاحبِ حیثیت اور خود کفیل نہ کر دیا؟ فلہٰذا، کسی یتیم کے ساتھ کبھی درشتی سے پیش نہ آنا؛ اور جب کسی سوالی کو دیکھو تو کبھی دھتکار نہ دینا؛ اورتم پر تمہارے پروردگار نے جو نعمتیں نازل کی ہیں ان کا اپنی گفتگو میں ہمیشہ ذکر کرتے رہنا۔ "

مشکل الفاظ
